We are pretty serious about our values (Boundless Hope, Courageous Love, Spend it Well, Safe Place, Safe People, and Collaborative Community). We call them like we see them. And when we see our team exemplifying our values, we make note and shout them out. Here’s a sneak peek at some shoutouts this year:

  • After the FCC game Jarod came in to share what a great time the group had… while also sharing about the discrimination a few of the kids experienced when they were told they couldn’t bring in their bags. When Jarod got into the crowd and saw many others with bags of similar size, he couldn’t stand what had happened and decided to go down to security and ask to speak to the manager. I love how Jarod spoke truth to those folks in a way that they could understand and using his gift of advocacy to not let something like that stand. Loved this story!! Safe Place, Safe People
  • Jarod has embraced the growth and learning we are continuing to go through as an organization in serving young people. Being open to get it right, not having to be right is attitude he continued to exhibit which is rooted in his Courageous Love for young people. He has also spent it well as we work to empower young people to drive change and take ownership of their own lives. He is also willing to step in and do what is needed with young people, even if it makes him uncomfortable. Nobody likes driving with a teenager, but he does it with a smile! Cheers to you Jarod! – Courageous Love
  •  Katie goes above and beyond not only for our youth but also for the staff. she is a true leader and puts so much passion into everything she does. – Collaborative Community
  • Corrie has the Midas touch. Summer programming was a hit, the new Lincoln Recreation room was perfection. Her care, dedication and skill are readily apparent in so many areas and we are so lucky to have her on the team. – Collaborative Community.
  • Teresa, for being so loving and kind and supportive to one of our young people who wanted to participate in pride. You have opened the door for conversation around how we can better support more youth who identify as LGBTQ. – Courageous Love
  • Allen has shown himself to be remarkably thorough and thoughtful in everything he does. He is a true asset to the team.
  • Chris is a true partner and ally in this work. He’s like that little angel on our shoulder reminding us to see the deeper needs of our youth. – Safe Place Safe People
  • Taisha has been a great team player, leveraging the expertise of those around her to elevate the work and build her knowledge! She worked hard to pull off a retreat and provide guidance for the team to bring clarity to the work. She has used Courageous love, by working to get it right not needing to be right and been brave, sharing about what is hard, what she needs and working to bring resolution where needed! Way to go Taisha! – Courageous Love
  • Shannon because this has been a month full of lots of transition planning for the org. and for her role, and we pulled off a big party, the Fete, thanks to her leadership! She has been patient as we navigate the transition and honest with feedback. She is flexible and centers the mission. That combined with her honestly, bravery and thoughtfulness drive her ability to stay as a safe person, creating a safe office environment. Shannon really leaned into her skills to navigate this season, managing her priorities, being honest around her capacity. All of this is example of why she is a great team player and is an example of how spends her time, talents and resources well, to advance the mission! – Spend it Well, Collaborative Community, Safe place, safe people and Courageous Love
  • Chris for his unique ability to communicate and articulate things to make them simple to understand. – Safe Place, Safe People and Collaborative Community
